Recently, Baulder’s Gate developer Larian Studios has pressed on the Divinity series. At The Game Awards, it was announced a new game is in development for the IP. But, it does not appear to be Original Sin 3. Prior to the event, the developer via X elaborated it is not the third game. This came paired with the then-cryptic statue & trademarked logos that were unearthed as well.

And now with chatter still hot from the coals, Larian Studios is shipping new versions of Divinity: Original Sin 2. Now, the game is available for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 with native versions. Last-generation owners can redeem this for free as a cost-free upgrade. You can watch the launch trailer in the video below:

“From the team that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3, critically-acclaimed role-playing game Divinity: Original Sin 2 is now available on the latest generation of consoles! Immerse yourself in the world of Rivellon, and forge your path to godhood – alone or together,” Larian Studios writes for the announcement of the surprise releases.

“Depending on your platform, if you already have Divinity: Original Sin 2 installed, you’ll receive a free update with the version applicable to your console. If you don’t currently have it installed but would like to play again on a current-gen console, navigate to the Divinity: Original Sin 2 store page on either Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S, and you can download the upgrade for free.”

Larian Studios goes on to clarify that in Japan that the upgrade on PlayStation & Nintendo Switch will cost ¥100. “Divinity will offer a completely new story, but there’s some continuity and characters for those who’ve played previous games. You might even pick up on certain things others may not!” the developer elaborates on knowledge of the new game coming.
