Last week the major layoffs at Electronic Arts took the world by storm as the company said they’d like to focus on already beloved franchises like Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi. One of the projects being worked on by Respawn Entertainment was canceled and was confirmed to be a Star Wars FPS game that had been reported to be a game themed after The Mandalorian television series.

There has been another Star Games game in development from Bit Reactor that was announced in 2022 and it looks like the project lives on. Here is what Bit Reactor shared on their official X (Twitter) account:

“Last week was difficult for the industry, and more so because of our strong relationships within the other teams at Respawn. But for those asking, we are still hard at work, and our game was unaffected by last week’s news.”
In early February, EA said in an earnings call that their next Star Wars video game is aiming for a 2025 release. It is likely the project from Bit Reactor but we will have to wait and see.
