As is tradition, annual sports titles from Electronic Arts is rolling out. So far, both Madden NFL 22 alongside FIFA 22 shipped. To follow, the last is NHL 22 which is prepared to arrive later this week. As you might guess, the in-house projects from internal EA Sports studios continue to sell en masse YoY thanks to the growing popularity of the franchises and respected sports.

For the latest FIFA 22, Electronic Arts presses the game finds a new “record-breaking” launch with the newest title at the start of October. “Since launch, we’ve already had 9.1 million players join the game, 7.6 million Ultimate Team squads created and 460 million matches played. We will continue delivering amazing experiences throughout this season, but first – a heartfelt thank you to our incredible community of football fans,” the press release shares.

However, the same document goes on to disclose that Electronic Arts is potentially looking to restructure the FIFA brand with a potential rename for newer installments.

As we look ahead, we’re also exploring the idea of renaming our global EA Sports  football games. This means we’re reviewing our naming rights agreement with FIFA, which is separate from all our other official partnerships and licenses across the football world.

Already, this is not much different from other soccer/football simulators out there on the market for 2021 either. In that, Konami announced during the game’s reveal that the recognized Pro Evolution Soccer will not return to the name. Instead it will be identified as eFootball moving forward as the new game pursues the free-to-play structure.

Elsewhere, Electronic Arts announced to be resigning its agreement with FIFPRO to continue using the names and likeness of professional players for its FIFA series. “Our players regularly remind us that one of the most important aspects of an EA SPORTS experience is the deep immersion created through authentic use of the world’s greatest leagues, teams and talent — it’s how we continue to uniquely blur the lines between the digital and physical worlds of football,” said EA Sports Brand Vice President David Jackson.

In a similar circumstance, Electronic Arts also arranged the same deal with the CLC to revive the long-gone college football Madden series, however, it will not be returning to MCAA it appears. You can read the full report by heading here.
