The hugely successful movie franchise known as “Fast & Furious” is teaming up with the Xbox One exclusive open world driver Forza Horizon 2 to create a standalone expansion for the game. The downloadable expansion will feature cars and missions inspired by Universal Pictures “Fast & Furious” movie franchise.

Microsoft’s Turn 10 Studios are announcing today the ‘Fast & Furious’ expansion DLC in preparation for the upcoming April 3rd release of ‘Furious 7’. The expansion will be free right from March 27th until April 10th in which case, afterwards the expansion will cost $10/€10.If you download it for free you get it free forever. It’s $10 for anyone who downloads it after April 10th.(Update – we have received confirmation from Grant Orban on some details)

The expansion is being developed by Playground Games, the creators of Microsoft’s highly-successful Forza Horizon 2 game. Microsoft and Universal Pictures recently made a deal in the use of the film names, trademarks, car and such for use in the DLC.

“Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious” will be released on March 27th for the Xbox One and Xbox 360, and will not require “Forza Horizon 2.” The expansion will be free until April 3rd to celebrate the upcoming release of Furious 7, the next instalment in the film series. If downloaded before that date, you will be able to keep the expansion – after that date, the expansion will cost gamers a small $10, which seems extremely worth it for a brilliant collaboration such as this. A game designer at Playground Games (developer of the Forza Horizon franchise) tweeted this:

Forza Horizon 2’s last large expansion was Storm Island. You can read our review of it here.
