Earlier this summer, Remedy Entertainment shipped its first multilayer title – FBC: Firebreak. “Remedy’s trademark creativity flickers in the margins of FBC: Firebreak but never truly takes center stage,” our review reads; scoring a 6.5/10. “The game’s content is thin, its narrative underdeveloped, and its gameplay loop too derivative to stand out in a crowded genre of cooperative shooters.”

Adding: “That being said, there are flashes of fun, but the team needs to put in a lot more work if they want Firebreak to leave a lasting impression down the road.” Right out the door on both Xbox Game Pass & PlayStation Plus, more than one million players hopped into FBC: Firebreak. However, it was reported that the game was very underwhelming in terms of its arrival on PC.

Alongside the problems that were faced right out the game, many were optimistic what FBC: Firebreak would deliver in future updates. In its new ‘Breakpoint’ patchwork that went live today, there has been a severe overhaul to many aspects of FBC: Firebreak. You can watch the in-depth video showcase below:

“We have taken a lot of feedback to heart. Over the summer, we have worked hard on releasing updates to the game. Still, Breakpoint is only the first major step, we know we need a few more, bringing significant improvements and new systems, as well as content, into the game, incorporating community feedback alongside our own ideas,” Remedy Entertainment writes in the press release.

“Breakpoint introduces systemic overhauls, new enemies, weapons, a new Crisis, and quality-of-life improvements that refresh how the game is played.  […] Breakpoint marks a major step forward for FBC: Firebreak’s live journey, refreshing its core systems while adding substantial new content:

  • Crisis Board – Replacing the Job Board and presenting curated playable content, making the game feel more dynamic, less predictable, and closer to the first-responder fantasy at the heart of the game. We want the game to show you the fun rather than ask you to hunt for it.
  • ”Orientation” – A new tutorial level accompanied by onboarding improvements across the game.

  • Outbreak – A brand-new Crisis (formerly known as Jobs) bringing a new location, enemies, and gameplay.

  • Gun Mods – Brand new gun customization system bringing modifiers that make guns more powerful or change their functionality.

  • New guns, grenades, cosmetics, and enemies.

  • Systemic improvements to harmful conditions, objectives, devices, and more!
  • Economy & Progression Overhaul.

“Following a series of devastating House shifts across the Research Sector, the Mold has begun to evolve and spread at a rapid rate, transforming Hiss and Firebreakers alike into dangerous new enemies,” details on the new Outbreak reads. “Descend into what’s left of Research, analyze any spores you find, then brew a custom poison to eliminate all Mold from the area. Just remember: Do as you’re told… don’t eat the Mold!”

Are you surprised with the amount featured in the first major FBC: Firebreak update?

FBC: Firebreak is out now for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
