Five Nights At Freddy’s officially hit the movie theater on October 27, 2023, and it looks like the movie is already a success worldwide as it broke $130M during its first weekend. Over the last few years, we have seen successful video game movies released such as Super Mario Bros, Detective Pikachu, and Sonic The Hedgehog 1 & 2.

It turns out that Five Nights At Freddy’s had a better opening weekend than Sonic The Hedgehog 2 making $80 Million in its first weekend compared to Sonic’s $72.1M.

As it stands, the Super Mario Bros. Movie is the king of video game movies as it shattered records while it was in theaters. Despite what critics say, Five Nights At Freddy’s is off to a great start and it’s likely we will see more movies of the video game series in the future.
