Yesterday, Reuters reported that FromSoftware’s parent company Kadokawa has been in discussions with Sony to acquire the company. According to their sources, the talks are ongoing and it may take a few weeks for a deal to finalize. This morning, Kadokawa confirmed it received an initial letter of intent to acquire the company’s shares.
The company released a statement which you can see below:

Sony has yet to come out and confirm this from their side, but at least there is some confirmation. The big part of this acquisition would be that Sony would be the owners of Elden Ring and the Dark Souls franchise which have been fan favorites for years. Elden Ring has been a huge success since it release a couple of years ago.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree was released this year selling over 5 million units and it has been nominated for Game of The Year. There were also reports of a Dark Souls III remaster being in development, but those have not been confirmed yet.
