This is news you don’t normally hear about when a game gets published by GameStop. Instead of being released through a traditional publisher, Insomniac wanted to team up with GameStop.  Ted Price, the company’s founder, calls a “non-traditional developer-publisher relationship.” You might know Insomniac through Sunset Overdrive. GameStop has no creative control over the new game, the company is handling Song of the Deep’s promotion and marketing. When Song of the Deep is released in Q2 of this year, it will be available for digital download on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The one thing GameStop has over other stores is that they will only sell the physical copy.
Song of the Deep is a passion project Insomniac has been working on for about a year. The underwater side-scrolling exploration game follows the adventure of Merryn, a 12-year-old girl who builds herself a small submarine to search for her missing father and along the way discovers a new world and lost civilization.
