Gears of War movie script is now being written

It has been years since it was reported that a Gears of War movie will eventually happen. Recently, The Hollywood Reporter shared an interview with Kelly McCormick that the script is being written for the Gears of War movie.

She confirmed that Jon Spaihts known for Dune, is writing the script for Gears of War. “We’re really excited about it. There’s a lot of energy from The Coalition and from Netflix,” Kelly McCormick said to the outlet.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the project because Gears of War E-Day is planned to be released in 2026. The movie won’t be released in time, but it’ll be relevant to the game for the most part.

The Gears of War movie will be directed by David Leitch, who hasn’t done a war movie yet. The director hasn’t been able to do such a film yet.

For the longest time, Dave Bautista has been the perfect candidate to cast as Marcus Fenix in a Gears of War film. The actor has also expressed his interest in taking part in the project. As of now, the official cast has not been announced.
