Earlier in the week, developer Sucker Punch Productions alongside Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that this coming Thursday will present roughly 18 minutes of gameplay for the July-scheduled Ghost of Tsushima. With not much known about the game already, this would be a good opportunity to learn more prior to is release in the coming summer.
And that day has finally arrived as the State of Play livestream initiated earlier today sharing more details for the project. One exciting reveal that surely made fans excited is that Photo Mode will be supported at launch for the game. But unlike previous versions we have witnessed in other titles that support the feature, Ghost of Tsushima’s is unique at a whole new level.
For starters, the feature shares that primitive elements like filters, depth of view, and zoom/tilt will be available as we would expect. However, what makes photo mode special in this game is the character it projects to properly portray the emotion of the game. In other words, players will be able to control aspects of the game that has not been offered in other titles.
Things like wind speed and direction is interchangeable. The same can also be applied for the particles flying in the air and the type of floating objects that breeze across the screen are also ample for changing as well. Character expressions can also be adjusted to best suit the image to your liking which continues to show the freedom available in feature crafted by Sucker Punch.
But makes photo mode in Ghost of Tsushima extremely exciting is that music can be applied to the scene from the game’s OST. As you see from the video, the game sits still while organic life and particles continues to fly through the scene. Creative Director Jason Connell best explains that “if we plan on doing a photo – maybe you actually want to do a video [instead]”. It’s pretty rare that players would want to record video through the game’s ‘photo’ mode, so offering incentive to do so only makes the game’s release more anticipating.
What pictures do you plan on taking when Ghost of Tsushima arrives later this year?
Ghost of Tsushima is scheduled to ship on July 17, 2020 for PlayStation 4.
