While the Batman Arkham franchise has been officially behind us for nearly half a decade with Batman Arkham Knight & batman Arkham VR both shipping in 2015 & 2016 respectively, developers Warner Bros. Montreal and Rocksteady Studios is preparing release for new entries in the Batman universe within the next year. At 2020’s DC Fandome introduced the Canadian team’s coming project – Gotham Knights.
Banding together an immersive experience with Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Red Hood, players can experience all four together and switch between all four at any moment throughout the experience. Additionally, the UK-based Rocksteady Studios introduced Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League which shows the team’s next project that branches away from the Dark Knight’s story. Similar in structure to Marvel’s Avengers, players will find an engrossing experience with Harley Quinn, King Shark, Deadshot, and Captain Boomerang.
In a new announcement from both Warner Bros. Montreal & DC Comics, the two games are to be presented at the scheduled DC Fandome later this October. Presumably, we will find more in-depth footage and possible release windows for the two titles.
“Warner Bros. Games will feature new reveals from the highly anticipated Gotham Knights, developed by Warner Bros. Games Montréal, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, developed by Rocksteady Studios,” DC Comics pens in the announcement post on Monday.
Previously, there were some new discoveries for the two coming projects. In regards to Gotham Knights, developer Warner Bros. Montreal gave the unfortunate news that the project will instead be releasing later in 2022 due to unclarified circumstances; likely thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic that still affects millions across the globe.
Additionally, through a discovery over on LinkedIn, it is found that Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is being created with Unreal Engine 4. While the release date is expected ship after the launch of Epic Games’ latest game building suite, Unreal Engine 5, it is surprising that Rocksteady Studios did not get its hands on the latest version.
