As of yet, Rockstar Games most-anticipated project has yet to release. Grand Theft Auto VI is still underway and was recently confirmed to ship this fall, as per Take-Two Interactive. And although the developer is preparing the biggest release for this year, it also gave some attention to its older releases. Last year, we saw the much needed visual upgrades come to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition that reflects the original versions tone.
For its ongoing GTA Online, Rockstar Games still injects its free updates for consoles & PC. In December, it shared that the latest Agents of Sabotage update offers new espionage missions as you butt heads with the FIB. Around the same time, Rockstar Games also revealed a new partnership with Modulate as part of a new initiative to monitor voice chat within GTA Online lobbies.
Now moving ahead for Grand Theft Auto V, the game is to be receiving another overhaul. While consoles received the update back in 2022, the same treatment is now officially coming to PC on March 4th. The same visual improvements and graphical upgrades on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 will soon be available for keyboard & mouse too.
“Grand Theft Auto V on PC is getting a free upgrade with sought-after features previously only available in the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online — including all the latest vehicles and performance upgrades available at Hao’s Special Works, animal encounters, and access to purchase a GTA+ Membership — along with improved graphics options, faster loading times, and more,” the blog post reads.
“Support for the previous version of GTAV will continue, allowing anyone whose hardware does not currently meet the minimum requirements of the new upgrade to keep playing. This also ensures that support for FiveM will continue uninterrupted while we work to extend support for it on the upgraded version.
“Please note that to maintain this support, the original version of GTA Online on PC will be a separate instance, and players who remain on that version will not be able to play in sessions together with those on the upgraded version. PC Players who want to play with each other will need to ensure they’re playing the same version of the game. Both versions will be available to everyone who upgrades — and first-time purchasers will get access to both versions as well.”
