For Halo Infinite, the game remains to find a stagnant pace of content since the release of Season 2 ‘Lone Wolves’ shipped. It was this November that a big turnaround for the game arrived. In that, co-op campaign, mission select, and forge mode arrived. But this was only the start as December welcomed more with the Winter Update featuring a remake of Halo 3’s The Pit.
Not to mention the later update in 2023 which welcomed a Community Custom Playlist imbedding player-created maps into general matchmaking most recently. Looking ahead, Season 3 ‘Echoes Within’ is to ship with new content including new maps, equipment, and a new weapon – the M392 Bandit.
Now on Friday, 343 Industries has visualized this much further with a launch trailer for Season 3 of Halo Infinite. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
In total, three maps are coming to the game: Oasis – the new Big Team Battle map featuring the iconic sands of prior Halo installments, alongside two arena maps – Cliffhanger & Chasm. As noted previously, the new equipment – Shroud Screen – adds as visual cover or ‘Halo’s version’ of the smoke grenade. Additionally, Escalation Slayer will be introduced which features the franchise’s own version of Gun Game with each kill unlocking a new weapon.
For the future of Halo Infinite despite drastic layoffs internally at Xbox Game Studios, the team has confirmed it will be working on Halo still over at 343 Industries. From a statement by Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, he told that Halo is to remain a prominent IP for Xbox as long as the platform is standing. You can read the full report by heading here.
