Earlier in December just last month, it was revealed that Respawn Entertainment founder Vince Zampella passed in a tragic car accident in Los Angeles, California. Leaving behind, Zampella was most recognized for his triumphs in the AAA space surrounding first-person shooters. His work included what is considered the ‘Golden Age’ for Call of Duty with the original Modern Warfare trilogy, Star Wars: Jedi, and Titanfall.
Zampella’s track record and influence has touched the employees that worked under him too. So when former developers exited to form WIldlight Entertainment, there is some weight to what the team’s first release will be. At The Game Awards, the show ended with the reveal for Highguard, an arcane arena shooter. And today, January 26th, the free-to-play is officially available.
In preparation for the game’s life expectancy, Wildlight Entertainment also revealed that support going into Highguard’s post-launch is already mapped out for the first year. On X, the official page shared that the next episode of content is just two weeks away with more planned throughout 2026. You can view the image in the post below:
Each new Episode will bring an array of new core content every month, including new maps, bases, modes, wardens, weapons, mounts, raid tools, loot items, and many more surprises we can’t wait to share. And all of this core content is completely free for all players,” the official website reads elaborating on what Wildlight Entertainment promises to deliver for its content in Highguard moving forward.
Additionally, Highguard on its launch also shared the spotlight with a dedicated showcase that took place on Monday. You can read the full report by heading here.
