It will be another big week and month for Nintendo, as Donkey Kong Bananza is the next big AAA release for the Switch 2. So far, through its early previews, the game has been praised, having been developed by the Mario Odyssey team since at least 2018.
One of the most reliable insiders this year regarding Nintendo, NateTheHate, has claimed that a Nintendo Direct is still happening in July after the release of Donkey Kong Bananza. This information came from Nate’s latest podcast on YouTube:
NateTheHate also mentions in the Podcast that some 3rd party developers are choosing not to announce their Switch 2 games yet.
“Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft, Namco and many others are just waiting. They have games they want to announce. They have a lot of support coming to Switch 2.”
In other Nintendo-related news, it was found on Public Records that Nintendo and Universal Studios have filed a joint copyright for a Donkey Kong Movie. With a major new game coming out for the platform this week and now a rumored Direct for this month, the timing is interesting. We likely won’t see news on that for a while since it was only the project that just got copyrighted.
