At the start of 2024, there was a new craze in gaming – Palworld. Despite releasing on Xbox – a platform many undermine in being the least active of consoles – Palworld instantly arrived with a cult following. Within its first month, more than 25 million players were playing the game. What’s more, the game absorbed the status as the most-popular third-party release on Xbox Game Pass as well.
By late April, it was revealed that roughly 1.3 billion hours of Palworld was played. Despite the glowing initial reception, there was a fallout for the game since its release half a year ago. Around that same month, it was reported that the player base for Palworld was hit severely with roughly a fraction of the concurrent player count that it was first met with.
And although there is no PlayStation or Switch version of Palworld, it is not entirely ruled out. In a new post from the PocketPair global community manager, it appears the developer is hinting at PlayStation coming soon.
“🖤💚🤍Palworld🤍💚🖤
I want to add more hearts, but not sure what colour would fit…hmm…how about….
🖤💚🤍💙Palworld💙🤍💚🖤
Looks good I think!

Certainly, this would make sense as a previous record breaker for Xbox Game Pass also arrived to the Sony console in due time. Back in July 2023, Squanch Games officially delivered High on Life for both PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5. Whilst on Xbox for a brief time, it was the golden goose for Xbox Game Pass members being the most popular release to date then.
Looking ahead for Palworld, the game is on the way to delivering new content. Revealed April, PocketPair revealed a new update on the way which adds new content and, of course, new Pals to the main game. You can read the full report by heading here.
