As the videogame industry already witnessed the mass firing of employees at Telltale back in October and nearly 1,000 workers at Activision in January, now Electronic Arts will fall in the same situation as it was revealed today that roughly 350 employees at the publisher have been let go. In a recent blog post on EA’s website, publisher CEO Andrew Wilson announced that the people who were laid off from the recent events are based in the company’s marketing, analytics, and publishing departments.

In the e-mail for those who were affected by the recent decision, it shares that the choice was influenced from a consolidation which was initiated last year. Applying to better customer support and modify current international strategies which lead to the decision of closing offices in both Japan and Russia.

“The changes we’re making today will impact about 350 roles in our 9,000-person company. These are important but very hard decisions, and we do not take them lightly. We are friends and colleagues at EA, we appreciate and value everyone’s contributions, and we are doing everything we can to ensure we are looking after our people to help them through this period to find their next opportunity. This is our top priority.”

In response to Kotaku, Electronic Arts shares that the decision was to improve organization towards meeting promises met to the company’s consumers. Committing to closing operations in the East will assist towards “increasing quality in our games and services.” EA also mentioned to be finding other positions within the company for those who were affected and those officially let go will receive severance the company told the outlet via email.
