During EA Play 2018, BioWare has confirmed that Anthem will not have loot boxes. But players are still able to use real currency to buy in-game cosmetics.
Following the response from both recent EA titles of Star Wars: Battlefront II and Need 4 Speed: Payback, both were flooded with the business practice of giving players the ability to pay for a chance to earn greater loot. Even having to remove microtransactions entirely and boosting progression to respond better to how it’s implemented in the game as it left most players irritated.
And recently with Battlefield V not having a Premium Pass, it seems Electronic Arts has been listening to what players have been demanding. And it’s a start to earning trust again in their audience. With more EA games move away from this, we hope it will spread to other publishers as microtransactions are still alive and present in many AAA titles.
Anthemwill be available for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC on February 22, 2019.
