Mafia: The Old Country has been released on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC this week, and players have noticed a familiar place. The game is set in San Celeste, Sicily, which looks very familiar to a part of Mafia 2.
Mafia 2’s prologue took place in San Celeste, but at a later time. Mafia: The Old Country is a prequel, set in the early 1900s, and focuses on the origins of the Mafia. In The Old Country, players can explore more of the town of San Celeste and its surrounding areas in a more rural, early 1900s context.
When playing Mafia 2, you’ll see a World War 2 version of the town giving a completely different vibe to the town as you will see wounded soldiers and more as you explore in the earlier game.
The latest Mafia is available to purchase for $49.99, and it’s currently not available to play on Xbox Game Pass. It’s unknown if 2K Games will bring the game to the service.
