This Friday, Nintendo is hosting its longest major Nintendo Direct, which is roughly 60 minutes long. In the announcement, it was stated there would be news on upcoming Switch and Switch 2 games. However, they did not mention anything about movies.
As we know, Nintendo is working on a sequel to the Super Mario Bros. movie that is expected to be released in 2026. Following that, we have The Legend of Zelda film in 2027.
Since this Nintendo Direct will mark 40 years of Mario, there have been reports by insiders that the trailer for the next Mario movie will be dropping in that presentation.
Super Mario Galaxy Movie
According to reliable insider, Kurakasis, the next Mario movie is going to be titled “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie”. In the post, he says, “Yes, it’s happening”.

This would shoot down the supposedly leaked name a few months ago that was supposed to be “Super Mario World.” However, the insider didn’t mention if this would be the third Mario movie or if this is the true sequel to the 2023 film.
As usual with rumors, we must take them with a grain of salt. Kurakasis has a positive track record on leaks he posts online, but with Nintendo, you never know if their plans shift last minute.
Would you be excited to watch a Super Mario Galaxy Movie?
