At least for the sake of the Xbox Games with Gold program that has continued for over three console generations of Xbox, the lineup has not looked too bright for the sake of its users. While there are no definitive heavy-hitters to say the least, the games offered are not very appetizing to put it nicely. Even we at Rectify Gaming criticized the games presented being overshadowed by the juggernaut that is Xbox Game Pass.

But as we begin to leave 2020, Microsoft did issue a last batch of games. And while the plenty are not truly exciting, it is a sum that are worth picking up to add to your backlog. Entries such as Saints Row: Gat out of Hell and Stacking are worthy mentions to own on your hard drive. Even then, not as exciting as what other platforms offer for free.

But to kick off the new year in January 2021, things look to be going in a new direction. Next month, Capcom’s Dead Rising alongside Tarsier Studios’ Little Nightmares are thee showcased game up next for Xbox Games with Gold members. You can watch the new trailer for January 2021’s free games in the video below:

Starting on January 1, players can instantly indulge in the already mentioned Little Nightmares on Xbox One alongside The King of Fighters XIII on Xbox 360. The Bandai Namco title is to be issued for the entire duration of January, but the latter is only up for grabs until January 15. The remainder of the month will welcome Dead Rising for Xbox One, of course, and Breakdown for the Original Xbox.

The second increment of games are to be available for the remainder of January. Dead Rising, however, will be available to install well until February 15 the month following. Additionally, This month’s Bleed 2 is to remain free until January 15 next month.

Which games are you most excited to install?

Little Nightmares and The King of Fighters XIII will be available to install on January 1, 2021 until February 1, 2021 & January 15, 2021 respectively; Dead Rising and Breakdown will go live to install on January 15, 2021 and be delisted on February 15, 2021 and February 1, 2021 accordingly.
