When it came to the entering of new XBOX boss Asha Sharma and the introduction of her new ‘We Are Xbox’ testament earlier this spring, it is all leading up to the approaching XBOX Games Showcase later this weekend. Microsoft confirmed over an hour of upcoming titles – first & third party – alongside a post-show Gears of War: E-Day Direct following the main showcase.
As for what many anticipate to be present at the presentation from Microsoft, one is the update promised on the backwards compatibility program. Jason Ronald confirmed a new return for the initiative is to take place sometime later in 2026 Another is Project Helix. Again, Ronald did address that there are a time & place sometime this year it will be pressed upon, but its not in the previous GDC keynote held this winter.
Now with the XBOX Games Showcase this Sunday, fans are anticipating details to surface on Project Helix by Microsoft directly. Well, XBOX chief content officer Matt Booty has now issued an update on what to expect. He explains that the presentation is not a place to offer an update on Project Helix; it’s the games. You can watch the segment from the Official Xbox Podcast in the video below:
“I can also say that there won’t be Helix news. So Helix will not be in this Showcase. Again, we want to get everything about that right. So we’re really focused on the games now. We’ve got a great lineup over the next 12 months. That’s really what Showcase is going to focus on, the broader strategic questions. Anything to do with Helix will come at a later time,” Booty explains during the segment.
“Adding: “There’s a lot of good stuff in there. And again, the teams put just so much energy into working on the trailers and working on the timing and getting everything put together. We’re very busy. It is a very busy time at work. But we’re excited because all that energy goes into what should be a great Showcase. […] Another thing about Showcase I’ll say is that the focus is going to be on these games. We really want to focus on the teams and on the games. And this is not going to be a place where we’re going to talk about strategy broadly.”
