About half a year since the latest title in the Middle-Earth series, the team at Monolith are planning to take out microtransactions and to rework Shadow Wars from this decision.
On the game’s forum, Monolith announces that they will be removing the option of buying any type of War Chest. Discarding the ability for players to with any in-game currency, but not removing the chests ultimately.
As said in the forum post by Community Admin going by the name ‘MonolithMark’:
While purchasing Orcs in the Market is more immediate and provides additional player options, we have come to realize that providing this choice risked undermining the heart of our game, the Nemesis System.” Said by Mark. “In order to fully restore the core promise of the Nemesis System, we’ll be permanently removing Gold, War Chests and the Market from Shadow of War.”
Those who currently have gold will have until July 17 to spend it, and gold will be available to purchase until May 8.
For Shadow Wars to be updated, Monolith will add new narrative elements to it and applying gameplay improvements for Endless Siege once gold is removed from the game.
