From developer Naughty Dog, the team in its latest release shook the industry with The Last of Us Part II. While the game stands to be a controversial entry splitting many players on how the game studio went upon deciding how the plot was executed, the game sits to be the most awarded entry in the industry. The game overthrows CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which previously held that title.
Moving forward, it was already discovered the team has restructured in preparation for a new entry. The rearrangement in staffing at the developer is tradition ahead of a new project underway for the game studio. Additionally, the team did press on some rumors. While even itself is upset about this reality, a new Jak & Daxter is not in development it said.
From CES in January, co-President Neil Druckmann shared during his time on stage the firm’s presence in entertainment with the Uncharted motion picture and the coming The Last of Us HBO series. He also pressed on the “multiple game projects” that the team is working on he is eager to share more later on. You can watch the segment of the show in the video below:
In terms of one project that is likely to hit the development pipeline, it is another The Last of Us sequel. Previously, Druckmann when talking to IGN explained that the story for the next The Last of Us game is on paper. However, the game has yet to even commence development as of the time of the report back in April 2021.
Additionally, the team is also reported to be working on a remake for The Last of Us. Originally reported by Bloomberg, it discloses a smaller team – Sony Interactive Entertainment Visual Arts – was working on the game before the division shuttered and Naughty Dog absorbed the project. More recently it was reported the game is slated to ship in 2022. You can read the full report by heading here.
