Upon glancing over at the calendar in contrast to last year, it has been more than a year since developer Neon Giant showcased its coming cyberpunk, top-down RPG, The Ascent. While the game presented to be of value from a AAA developer like many would gather, it is actually from the craft of a much smaller team. With its visual value and launch for Xbox Game Pass immediately, there is a user base awaiting its release when it arrives.
Originally, The Ascent was then scheduled to arrive sometime in late 2020, said Neon Giant. However, complications internally – especially due to COVID-19 resulted with the game’s unfortunate push to 2021. While uncertain, the team could not disclose an approximate date at the time of the statement.
But in a new announcement on Tuesday, The Ascent is set to launch later this July. You can watch the release date trailer in the video below:
In the announcement post from Neon Giant, The Ascent is written to be a “classic RPG mechanics that will allow you to customize your character and playstyle, including cyberwear, augmentations and looting.” It continues stating the game offers “An unprecedented sense of verticality within its world, with different levels and platforms to explore and take advantage of in combat.”
Gameplay is said to feature “a double-aim mechanic that will allow players to take full advantage of what they see on the screen and choose between multiple targets anywhere in the environment,” while the plot is oriented as “a narrative-led adventure, playable alone or with up to three friends in co-op modes.”
What are you most excited about The Ascent finally arriving this summer?
The Ascent is scheduled to launch on July 29, 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
