It is no question that Microsoft is trying the make Xbox abridged with Windows. With the release of support for aggregated store libraries before and now the Xbox ROG Ally, it is a sure shot for the future of the platform. Not to long ago, Microsoft recently confirmed that work is still underway on the next-generation Xbox despite many doubts and swirling rumors online.
In the passing weeks, other confirmations have pointed to Xbox commitment to releasing a new system. According to one report, an AMD engineer has verified the development. The source even indicated more hands-on PC elements. Additionally, Xbox president Sarah Bond also went ahead to reaffirm that Xbox is internally working on what will be the next Xbox console as well.
Now morphing both stories, Bond when speaking to Mashable recently has confirmed that the effort for next-generation Xbox will be a hybrid between consoles & PC. You can watch the segment of the interview in the video below:
“The next-gen console is going to be a very premium, very high-end curated experience. You’re starting to see some of the thinking that we have in this handheld, but I don’t want to give it all away,” Bond explains in the interview. In the same vein, Windows Central also released new details on what to expect from this machine.
From the report, it is pressed that although a PC experience is being introduced, the system will still deliver a ‘traditional console’ experience. Similar to PC too, no multiplayer paywall was emphasized. Atop of that, backwards compatibility will remain a focus moving forward as well. Even AMD has touted legacy support as a major bullet point for future Xbox hardware. You can read the full report by heading here.
