Although many question the overall morale surrounding Xbox right now, Microsoft is still adamant on delivering to its users that are sticking around after its recent controversies. One of the biggest news stories spun from a rumor that Microsoft was closing shop on future Xbox hardware. It only took a day for the Xbox firm to dismantle the online claim with its efforts still underway internally.

Only this past summer did Microsoft & AMD announce its multi-year partnership to shape the future of Xbox. What is being made internally is described as ‘Project Magnus’. As per Moore’s Law is Dead on YouTube, it was shared by an AMD engineer that Magnus is still in motion. “XBOX Magnus is still full steam ahead. We are literally discussing next-steps in a progress update,” the source said in the statement.

And with multiple confirmations now cementing that Xbox is still making new hardware, president Sarah Bond also spoke on the matter. After the release of the new Xbox ROG Ally, conversations will start to point towards next-gen and Bond was the first to properly do so when being interviewed by Variety recently.

“We are 100% looking at making things in the future. We have our next-gen hardware in development. We’ve been looking at prototyping, designing. We have a partnership we’ve announced with AMD around it, so that is coming. What we saw here was an opportunity to innovate in a new way and to bring gamers another choice, in addition to our next-gen hardware.”

Bond continues: “We are always listening to what players and creators want. When there is demand for innovation, we’re going to build it.” Another scare that was recently dismissed by Microsoft was its offerings in brick & mortar retail. After chatter rose on the platform being pulled from shelves at Target & Wal-Mart – already at Costco – Microsoft jumped in to say it wasn’t correct reporting.
