With the Nintendo Switch 2 officially revealed and with pre-orders set to take place on April 9, 2025, scalpers are going to try to get in the action. It looks like this time around, Nintendo has a plan to challenge Switch 2 scalpers.
First noticed by Tom Warren on X (Twitter), Nintendo will limit its own pre-orders to Switch 1 owners who have an active Switch Online membership and have spent a certain amount of time playing games they purchased on the Nintendo Switch. It will prioritize players with more playtime.
Here is an image below of the plan Nintendo has. (Thanks, Tom Warren for sharing).

It is unclear if this will apply when pre-ordering on Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Walmer, or other large retailers. Currently, players can sign-up to register their interest to buy the Switch 2 from the My Nintendo Store. The requirements above may only apply to Nintendo’s store.
Last year, Nintendo said it had a counter to resellers for their next console to produce more. It was reported they have plans to produce 20 million Switch 2 consoles within its first year which should allow customers to acquire the console easier.
What do you think of the Nintendo Switch 2?
