Further on the report from DanielRPK, Production List has revealed The Legend of Zelda movie will be filmed in New Zealand. The move is set to begin filming on November 4, 2025, through April 7, 2026.
On the website, the Project Summary reads the following:
“A live-action adaptation of the video game franchise. The Legend of Zelda follows Link, a young warrior destined to protect the magical kingdom of Hyrule from the forces of darkness. The land is under threat from Ganon, a ruthless warlord who seeks the Triforce—an ancient relic said to grant limitless power. To stop him, Link must embark on a perilous journey, battling monstrous creatures, exploring treacherous dungeons, and solving intricate puzzles to uncover sacred artifacts that can aid him in his quest.”

Nintendo has started strong with its film adaptations, as The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a big hit, setting new records. The sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be coming to theaters in 2026, a year before we see Zelda hit the big screen.
What’s interesting about the release timing of The Legend of Zelda film is that it comes a week after Sonic the Hedgehog 4 comes to theaters. It’s going to be a big year for video game films in 2027 so far.
