Ever since Nintendo revealed their plans for a subscription based online service, people were wondering how it would work. Today, Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima revealed the online price to the Nikkei.
Players can get excited because he noted that the price will only cost between 2-3,000 Yen which equates to $17.50-$26.50 per year USD. That’s less than half the price of your Xbox Live Gold or PSN subscription and should keep users happy. The “free” games you get via the Nintendo online program will only be free for that month unlike Xbox and PlayStation. When the month is up you will need to purchase the game to continue playing.
The one exciting thing that Nintendo is bringing to the table is voice chat via mobile app. It’s something that fans have wanted Xbox and PlayStation to use for a while now, especially party chat via the Xbox SmartGlass app. We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out for Nintendo, but if it goes well you could see Sony and Microsoft pick it up quickly.
