Although introduced as a promising new experience after the high success of Deathloop, Arkane Studios’ Redfall fell flat on its face with an underwhelming launch just over a year ago. And in that time the developer faced its demise just this month. Nearly a handful of Bethesda teams were shuttered by Microsoft: Alpha Dog Games, Tango Gameworks, Roundhouse Studios, and, of course, Arkane Austin.
Amid the team’s push to undo the damage, Arkane did promise to atone to major fixes for the game. It pledged to feature a 60hz update. And was later shipped that following fall. One of its most-requested features was offline mode – which Arkane did share to be a priority. After the studio closure was announced, Arkane did confirm that a final update is still planned.
This week, Arkane Studios rolled out its final update for Redfall which features many promised systems including offline mode and even single-player pausing too. “We’re thankful for the millions of players who have joined us. From everyone at Arkane Austin, thank you for playing our games and loving our worlds, it’s been an honor to deliver these experiences to you,” the team writes for the final update.
“With the release of GU4 you will be given the option to play Redfall while disconnected from the Internet. You will also be able to continue playing if you’re disconnected from the Internet in the middle of a solo session. When playing in co-op, the host will be dropped into a solo offline session.”
It continues: “Another new feature we’re happy to introduce is Single Player Pausing. Now if you need some time to adjust your kit, or you just need to step away for a minute, the world of Redfall will wait with you.” The new update also adds a new reputation system ‘Community Standing’ which accumulates your progressing based on outstanding feats and challenges completed in-game.
