After more than a decade, Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets and Panache Digital Games announces a dark fantasy successor to the Ubisoft franchise. Revealing 1666: Amsterdam, the game follows three severed timelines set within the titular universe. Funny enough, the game does share some similarities to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Hexe which recently received development updates via insiders on the project.

You can watch the announcement trailer for 1666: Amsterdam in the video below:

“A city built on wealth, power, and sheer will, yet shaped by forces it did not forge. Entities known as the Originals have lived among its people for centuries, granted time, granted power, and the freedom to abuse both. That power is now owed. Noa Brooklyn was born the Collector, raised by the Zaindaris for a purpose she did not choose. Aaron, drawn from 1999, now sees the world through the eyes of a cat,” the plot for the game reads.

“Before the first Esbat. Before the Collector realizes what awaits her. The Prologue of 1666: Amsterdam offers a first glimpse into a world shaped by centuries of hidden influence. Step into Noa’s Commencement as she takes on the mantle of the Collector, and begins to understand the role she was born to fulfill. A choice must be made. A companion will walk beside her. This is only the beginning.”

Désilets in a statement says: “Today, we’re finally ready to invite players into that process. The free prologue available now on Steam and Epic Games Store is only a small taste of what’s to come, an amuse-bouche before a nine-course dinner, an introduction to the world, its characters, and its different time periods. We hope players will enjoy discovering it as much as we’ve enjoyed creating it.”
