Developer Rebellion has yet to fail when delivering its occasional Sniper Elite game. In our review for Sniper Elite 5, we wrote: “The Sniper Elite series is one of my personal favorites, and Sniper Elite 5 completely fills a void left behind with the lack of any relevant Metal Gear or Splinter Cell for the current generation. […] Stellar level design and refined gameplay mechanics firmly establish Sniper Elite 5 among the stealth action classics.”
Looking ahead, the team is working on more games from that IP. In the virtual reality realm of things, Zombie Army VR is planned to release. What’s more, a new franchise is also coming as well to modern systems. Earlier this June, Rebellion revealed Atomfall – a dystopia open-world survival set in northern England during the 1950s.
At Gamescom Opening Night Live, Sniper Elite makes an appearance. Rebellion reveals Sniper Elite: Resistance. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:
“Sniper Elite: Resistance tells a gripping new standalone story that runs in parallel with Sniper Elite 5 and turns the attention towards the hidden war, far from the front lines, deep within the heart of occupied France. Players will take on the role of Harry Hawker, an agent of the Special Operations Executive (SOE),” the description reads.
“Intel has revealed powerful and deadly weapons known to the Axis as the Wunderwaffe. An arsenal of this magnitude could surely turn the tide of the war in their favour. You will be required to seek out key Axis targets and work together with the French Resistance to destroy the Wunderwaffe once and for all.” The game is also confirmed to release for Xbox Game Pass next year.
How excited are you for another Sniper Elite title?
Sniper Elite: Resistance is listed for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
