rendering ranger r rewind

Publisher Ziggurat Interactive has released the retro side-scrolling shoot-em-up Rendering Ranger: R [Rewind] on PC via Steam, PS4, PS5, and Switch. The game was originally released on Super Famicom in 1995, exclusively in Japan, and at the time sold only 10,000 copies.

The cost of the game is only $9.99 USD.

In Rendering Ranger: R [Rewind], players take on the role of the titular Rendering Ranger, a special forces soldier tasked with defending Earth from a devastating alien invasion.  Across nine levels of all-out action platforming, you’ll avoid attacks that seem to come from every direction and return fire in blisteringly quick gameplay on horizontal stages.

Rendering Ranger: R [Rewind] features cinematic scenes, upgradeable weapons, gigantic bosses, and 16-bit combat chaos. The re-release also features both Rendering Ranger: R² and Targa, the codename for the cancelled PAL version that hasn’t previously been available to the public.

Here are the Key Features via Ziggurat Interactive:

  • Powered by the Carbon Engine from Limited Run Games

  • Includes the unreleased prototype Targa and the Japan-only release Rendering Ranger: R²

  • The option to save and continue, allowing you to pick up where you left off
