While there hasn’t been a major installment for the series, Devil May Cry is in its own second renaissance as of this past year. On Netflix, both Season 1 & Season 2 of the animated Capcom show aired and has been a major success for the franchise. It was reported that a few months after the show debuted last year, over 3 million sales were made on the series.
So at no surprise with the recent airing of Season 2 that Netflix would further this investment into the universe. Recently, it confirmed that Season 3 has been greenlit and will conclude the storyline from Adi Shakar. Elsewhere recently, store listings pointed to a Nintendo Switch 2 release of Devil May Cry V for later this summer.
Now at the recent Nintendo Direct this week, it was revealed that Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition is coming later this month to Nintendo Switch 2. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
“The latest entry in the over-the-top action series slashes its way onto Nintendo Switch 2, armed with an array of downloadable content! Dive head-first into the game’s signature blend of high-octane action and otherworldly original characters – including Dante’s longtime rival and fan-favorite Vergil as a playable character! Enjoy the combination of blistering speed and lush visuals in 60 fps in both TV and handheld modes,” the press release reveals.
Fun fact: Devil May Cry V is not the first entry to ship on Nintendo Switch. In 2019, Devil May Cry shipped for the Nintendo eShop. Later in fall that same year Devil May Cry 2 launched as well. And by February 2020, Devil May Cry 3 arrived also. The only remaining title of the entire series is Devil May Cry 4 which Capcom has not addressed.
