Around this time each year publisher Activision comes out with a new announcement for the annual Call of Duty entry for the growing first person shooter series. 2020 in particular is an interesting year to see unfold as developer Treyarch will be unveiling its next installment for the franchise. Initially, developer Sledgehammer Games would be helming this year’s game, but due to altercations with Raven Software – the torch has been handed to the Black Ops team.
The decision while exciting for fans eager to see the newest project from Treyarch in reality limits the amount of development time since the title swiftly reverts back to a two-year development cycle with Sledgehammer Games’ retraction. Following the initial report, it was disclosed earlier this year that the new entry would be a reboot for the Black Ops subgenre, dubbed “Cold War”.
Now in a new statement by Jason Schreier, the Bloomberg Tech reporter discloses to have heard through the grapevine that the newest Call of Duty installment is still “a while” away from being revealed.
Schreier in response to his tweet regarding the looming Bloodborne re-release rumors surfacing answers that this year’s Call of Duty reveal will not be around for some time now. Which surely is upsetting for fans who are conditioned to the June-framed announcements for virtually about a decade now.
It was more than a month ago that Schreier continued to support his accurate track record when disclosing that Sony aimed to host its PlayStation 5 showcase sometime in June. While he could not predict the situation that unfolded in the United States that postponed the show, Schreier did state the event could be leaning more closer to mid June at the latest.
Many fans are also anxious to see how the newest Call of Duty entry will perform following the departure of Treyarch co-founder Jason Blundell earlier in 2020. You can read the full report by heading here.
