It is no secret, live-service premium releases by PlayStation has not been a strong suit. Following the release and soon closure of Concord & developer Firewalk Studios, it was reassured that the PlayStation firm is still adamant on shipping more titles in that genre. Even when efforts like Destiny 2 has yet to deliver satisfying results for Sony Interactive Entertainment, its initiative will continue with games like Marathon still paved for release in 2026.
Additionally, there are other titles from that cut of cloth also on the way internally. Last reported, Haven Studios’ Fairgame$ is in the pipeline with its leadership exiting the project back in September this year. Just last week, PlayStation & Bad Robot Games revealed a new co-op shooter is in the works with Left 4 Dead boss Mike Booth attached to lead.
At The Game Awards, we got our first look at the new game – 4:Loop. You can watch the reveal trailer in the video below:
“When I was building Left 4 Dead, the big risk at the time was whether random folks on the internet would actually co-operate to the degree we wanted them to – rescue each other from Hunters and Smokers, help downed players, save players dangling from ledges, and so on. Many of these game mechanics have now become well-known and expected, which allows us to push the boundaries in 4:LOOP even farther,” Booth explains to PlayStation Blog.
“The goal of the players is to draw the attention of the Mothership by disrupting the alien’s global mining operation, and then somehow destroy it. Each time the four-player team succeeds in a mission, they make choices to improve their equipment, building out a unique kit to survive the epic boss battle at the end of the Act. If the team completes all three Acts, they defeat the Mothership and save the world.”
