The Sea of Thieves IP happens to be one of Xbox Game Studios’ most popular franchises. Upon its release on PlayStation 5, the game was said to have welcomed over 40 million players in its lifespan then. Following the new platform addition, Sea of Thieves continued to stick in the top 3 sales for PlayStation in multiple regions as well.
By August 2024, Sea of Thieves was reported to have sold over one million copies on PlayStation 5 alone. And with a new set of players to cater to, Rare has been committed to shipping new seasons to the core game. October welcomes Season 14 for the game introducing new stealth mechanics alongside new traps and even specific weapons for your arsenal too.
This week, Season 15 for Sea of Thieves arrives offering players more depth to its fauna including brand new megalodons & fishing voyages. The emphasis on its wildlife also brings a new level cap increase for The Hunter’s Call also. You can watch the Season 15 update trailer in the video below:
“The Sea of Thieves has always been a wild, untamed sanctuary for pirates, but in Season 15 the stakes across these scattered islands and open waters are being raised once again! The latest free Seasonal update sees The Hunter’s Call Trading Company vastly expanding their offerings while two uniquely powerful Megalodons join the fray, with further hunt-related excitement set to follow in the months ahead,” Rare writes.
“The familiar Megalodons of the Sea of Thieves are fearsome beasts, but it turns out that even darker creatures have been dwelling beneath the waves… The Feared Redmaw and Barnacled Dread have crossed over from the Sea of the Damned, and now lie in wait to terrorise sailors with their ferocity and alarming special abilities.” Rare also confirms more passive animals including wild boar will be added later on in Season 15.
In line with The Hunter’s Call being upgraded, a new Hunting Spear is also arriving post-update too. “These thorny throwables will deal high damage to wildlife, and when fired from a cannon, can even break through a ship’s hull. […] Wild boars have taken refuge on the islands and hidden away treasures in their mud wallows.”
Alongside the newly added Fishing Voyages, Hunting Voyages are another promised addition to be released in due time. “With new Hunting Voyages, they’ll reward pirates willing to set off in search of Grand Boars running amok, or even to follow in the wake of rampaging Megalodons.” What has you most excited for Sea of Thieves Season 15?
