For many Call of Duty fans, especially for the latest Modern Warfare installment, many fans are growing tired of the overwelcomed file size that continues to grow extensively with each title update that ships for the first-person shooter. For those who can recall from June, the latest Season 4 that arrived really pushed the buttons on Xbox One players as they discovered that the download size came in roughly twice of what is required on competing platforms.

However, with Season 5 expected to ship in the coming weeks, Infinity Ward is planning to reduce the overall file size for rebooted title fairly soon. The information was spared by Infinity Ward Production Director Paul Haile on Twitter that discloses the team’s ambitious to minimize the game’s file size.

Haile continues by stating that Season 5 will continue to push the envelope for the most content jam packed in a season release, and that the approaching update will remove some excessive fat from the client. Even more, he tells that updates following season 5 will also aim to remove more unnecessary space occupied on player’s hard drives. “It’s a priority for us to keep working on reducing the overall size of MW & WZ on your hard drives, but at the same time also delivering new seasons for everyone to enjoy.

“We’ll continue to work on this and keep pushing space reductions out with future updates.” Regarding the contents for the next season arriving to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the team teased that more will be unveiled leading up to the update’s release this Wednesday, August 5th. But it is presumed that new and fan-favorite locations will be revealed alongside new innovative additions to the evergrowing Warzone.
