Back in 2015, Sega announced at Sony’s Press Conference duringĀ E3 that the third installment in the Shenmue series will be coming, but that this project will be crowdfunded via Kickstarter. With the goal of $2 million, it was soon enough reached and development on the game started.
Until recently, news on the title has been very quiet. Publisher Deep Silver announcing that Shenmue 3 will be delayed until 2019. With E3 just less than a monthĀ after that delay announcement, many hopedĀ that we could possibly see an update at Sony’s Conference. But with the event passing there was no sign of the upcoming game.
Now revealed by Sega that the first two titles Shenmue I & Shenmue II will be getting a rerelease for modern platforms. For those who missed out during the original release of the genre-defining titles will now have a chance to experience them in the meantime until III arrives.
Shenmue I & II will be available for Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC on August 21, 2018.
