
Sonic Frontiers was released in 2022 by Sega and the Sonic Team and it was received well by many fans and outlets. You explore Starfall Islands to collect the Chaos Emeralds after Sonic and his friends are separated when falling through a wormhole. A new report has come out claiming that Sonic Frontiers 2 is in development.
The initial report comes from DanielRPK and Midori corroborated it saying that it’s correct information. She says the title will be a sequel in gameplay style, but the name could change and mentions that Frontiers was originally planned to be called ‘Sonic Rangers’ until it was announced.

Sonic Frontiers was well supported over the first year of its release and in September 2023 the Final Horizon update brought the last boss, the ability to play as Amy, Knuckles, and Tails, and new challenges. On OpenCritic, Sonic Frontiers received a Fair Rating of 71 across all media outlets.

It was reported that Sega is working on a ‘Super Game’ with a budget expected to be over $800M, but it’s hard to say this would be that game. The publisher has been very busy working on mobile games and they’ve been reported to be collaborating with Disney on a game that will be exclusive to iOS and Android devices.
In other Sonic-related news, Keanu Reeves is rumored to be the voice of Shadow the Hedgehog in the upcoming Sonic 3 movie coming to theaters on December 20, 2024.
