Sonic Movie Teased To Be Present At The Game Awards This Week

According straight from the source over at this year’s Game Awards, host Geoff Keighley disclosed that Sega mascot hedgehog Sonic might be making an appearance during the annual show. What specifically will be revealed isn’t a game, however, it is regarding the approaching blockbuster film that is hitting the box office this coming February.

During a livestream on Twitter-owned Periscope, Keighley discusses of potentially seeing Sonic the Hedgehog while going more into detail of movie that we are well familiar with by now.

While Keighley does not go more in-depth on what exactly might be shown off at the awards show this coming Thursday, this does leave a hole as for what the possibilities might be related to the game franchise as well. Especially since this might possibly be the first time that Sonic the Hedgehog will be making an appearance at The Game Awards, it could be more than just a new trailer for the upcoming motion picture. What makes things even more interesting is that Keighley gave that answer regarding the 30^th anniversary for Sega’s Blue Blur.

It is known information that Sega is planning to ship a mainline installment for the Sonic series sometime later in 2021, so the likeliness of seeing the project so soon is not really up to being a possibility. However, one other plausible feasibility is that Sega is launching a game tied to the film. Although movie games typically don’t happen like a decade before, wouldn’t that mean this would be a bigger surprise now? Regardless, this is only speculation until official word proves otherwise.

For the most tangible and legitimate prediction that could come out from this poke at Sonic the Hedgehog, it would be more news regarding the film itself. Keighley tells that the show ”may do something fun with the movie that’s coming out,” so that could just be more spotlight time for the blue mammaled protagonist. Seeing that fans have approved of the redesign for the movie’s model of Sonic, it makes sense that Paramount would continue to show that off until later this Winter.
