While the acquisition of Bungie from PlayStation was a massive statement towards the Activision Blizzard King deal, it has yet to pay off. It was reported that Destiny 2 has yet to show major gross return for the PlayStation firm since acquiring the developer as of this past fall. And with the recent release of Marathon, Sony did address that the earlier shortcomings will not solidify a quick sunsetting for the game as it plans to continue supporting the extraction shooter.

As for other efforts at Sony Interactive Entertainment in its live-service ambition, Fairgame$ is another that is still being realized internally. In fall 2024, it was reported that the game was being received fairly well. The problem was at the time, Concord also faced similar praise which did not mean much knowing the fate of that project. Even more, fundamental leadership at the developer also exited Haven Studios as well the following year.

Now with 2026 soon to be halfway through, it appears Sony Interactive Entertainment are ramping up its next release campaign for its live-service initiative. In both the United States & Europe, thanks Gematsu, new IP ‘Break In’ has been trademarked. This coincides with the claims for Fairgame$ being renamed; Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier broke the news on ResetEra recently.

Additionally, social media platforms for Break In are also live – domains like YouTube as well as X & Instagram are now up for the new IP. It is no secret that Sony Interactive Entertainment remains committed to the live-service effort as it stated back in summer 2025. Recently, Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed that its single-player titles are to remain console exclusive, so projects like Break In will be met with a simultaneous PC & console release.

When Break In might be revealed is set to take place in the coming weeks potentially. Last week, the PlayStation firm announced a new PlayStation State of Play will be taking place on June 2nd and the duration is over an hour long. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you surprised with this new break of news for PlayStation’s next live-service?
