Offering a slew of new features like haptic feedback and adaptive triggers alongside completely reiterating away from the recognized Dualshock, the gamepad is certainly expected to bring new experiences to the table.
And as the firm shared more on the software that will be arriving for the system later this year on onwards, the team responsible also elaborated on the certain aspects that will be amplified thanks to the DualSense. Not only that, but the intuitive 3D audio which is also packaged with the controller has also been a frontrunner for teams working on coming projects.
Now this week, Sony shared a new add illustrating what this new immersion will feel like with a visual trailer to highlight just some examples for coming titles. You can watch the trailer below:
In addition to the video provided, Sony in a blog post elsewhere also provided some examples of this new feature for coming titles that are shipping for PlayStation 5 in the coming future. In Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Insomniac Games to properly infuse the ‘Spidey Sense’ for the playable hero in the experience uses the DualSense to know which directions enemies are attacking from. “The haptic feedback precision allows us to do all sorts of new things.
“In Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, we’ll be hinting to players which direction attacks are coming from by providing haptic feedback from the appropriate direction on the DualSense wireless controller.” One interesting approach with the peripheral is in Arkane Lyon’s Deathloop where the team will purposefully lock the triggers when a gun jams. “Deathloop being a first-person shooter, we do a lot of things to make weapons feel differently from one another,”game Director Dinga Akaba shares.
“One I like is blocking the triggers when your weapon jams, to give to the player an immediate feedback even before the animation plays out.” Tango Gameworks also appreciates the amount of volume that can be illustrated with the vibrations in the controller from very intense to faintly light compared to older gamepads. Presumably, the team will utilize the feature when using certain abilities in Ghostwire: Tokyo.
Previously, a rumor began circulating suggesting that despite the DualSense’s longer charge the controller could not be utilized for PlayStation VR. The gamepad is also told not to be functional when playing backwards compatible titles either. You can read the full report by heading here.
