So far from the Wednesday-hosted PlayStation Showcase, there are plenty of announcements to keep players engaged on the PlayStation side of things. For starters, Haven Entertainment Studios unveiled its first title, Fairgame$: a competitive heist shooter. Additionally, Alan Wake II also stepped into the spotlight with an October release date later this fall.
Adding on is the announcement of Marathon: the original 1994 Bungie IP is returning in a new extraction PvP experience aimed for all major platforms. Even Ubisoft was there revealing its newest Assassin’s Creed Mirage as it releases on October 12th later in the year. So what else is under the sleeve of the PlayStation firm?
Well, Square Enix in a surprise revealed shared its new Splatoon-inspired IP Foamstars. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:
“As demonstrated in the Announcement Trailer, Foamstars focuses on delivering a fresh new take on the shooter genre, all based around the concept of ‘engaging in energetic foam battles that anyone can pick up and play.’” producer Kosuke Okatani says. “Foam isn’t used for just attacking; shoot foam on the ground and it will build up, altering the terrain. A key feature of this title is that the uses of foam are creative and versatile.
“For instance, players can build up foam fortresses and shoot enemies from the top, surf on suds to traverse the battlefield, or even use foam to defend from enemy attacks. […] The team is currently hard at work on the development getting ready to let the foam begin!” Are you excited for Foamstars from the reveal?
Foamstars is listed for PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5.
