Star Fox sales are off to a strong start, tops UK charts in week 1

Nintendo has brought back Star Fox in partnership with Velan Studios, the developers of the Nintendo 64 remake onto the Nintendo Switch 2. During its first weekend, stores have been selling out of physical copies indicating that sales are starting off strong.

On Monday, it was revealed that Star Fox on Switch 2 was the best selling game of the week in the United Kingdom and that is just its first few days of release. Coming just behind Star Fox includes EA Sports FC 26 and Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition.

The Game Business’s Christopher Dring also revealed that Star Fox on Nintendo Switch 2 sold almost double what Star Fox Zero did during its opening week. It’s also up almost 70 percent on Star Fox 64 3D. This is just counting physical sales for these games.

Star Fox has also been #1 on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop for multiple days in a row and continues to be a top selling game.

Super Mario Galaxy Movie Helping Sales?

It’s very possible that the Super Mario Galaxy Movie helped bring attention to Star Fox. Fox McCloud made a surprise appearance in the movie with Glenn Powell voice acting the character. It seems that Nintendo wants to do more with the IP. A Star Fox movie is apparently being discussed between Illumination and Nintendo, but time will only tell for that one.
