As of late for Capcom this year, Street Fighter 6 is the latest hit for the Japanese publisher. In our review for the game we told “The ease of use, fantastic tutorials, and wealth of single-player options are designed to ease somebody like myself into the action. But the depth of combat and the nuances of the Drive Gauge system seemed intended for expert players to take full advantage of.” And that is only the initial response to the game.

Later on, the game continued to shatter expectations with the report on the record concurrent player count on Steam. Recording more than 70,000 players is the most ever for a fighting game on the platform. The game even celebrated sales exceeding more than 1 million shortly after its release. And it appears Capcom wants to continue this momentum with the teams involved.

Recently, Capcom announced its latest acquisition for Swordcanes Studio – a support team that worked on Street Fighter 6. In total, Capcom only issued 8 million Yen for the acquisition for the Tokyo-based game studio.

“Swordcanes strength lies in 3D computer graphics production technology in consumer home video game development and the studio has carried out work on major Capcom titles in the past. As such, Capcom decided to make the studio its wholly-owned subsidiary to sustainably bolster its developmental and technological capabilities,” the press release reads.

Additionally, the team was also noted for its work at other publishers too. Another recent release, Final Fantasy XVI, was also on that list. Alike Street Fighter 6, it was another title Rectify Gaming chanted for. “Final Fantasy XVI is a triumph that firmly moves Final Fantasy forward for a new generation,” our review for the game reads.

Looking ahead, Street Fighter 6 has major plans for post-launch. Already, the first wave of its Season Pass has landed with Rashid welcomed to the game. You can read the full report by heading here.
