The long-awaited Halo: Infinite has been a big discussion surrounding the franchise as well as the upcoming Project Scarlett console as the game will be launching with the next generation unit at the end of next year. In the midst of waiting for information regarding the title’s story or gameplay, 343 Industries has revealed that the game will be marching on towards launch one man short.

According to a breaking report from Kotaku, Halo: Infinite Creative Director Tim Longo has announced his departure from the first-party developer. The outlet when contacting Microsoft on the matter was informed that that Longo’s leave from 343 is a product of a “leadership shakeup” happening at the developer.

Roles and responsibilities of various team members regularly evolve to meet the needs of a game, throughout development. We have recently had two changes to the Halo Infinite development team. Our Executive Producer, Mary Olson will now take charge of the Campaign team on Halo Infinite as the Lead Producer, utilizing her many years of experience at 343 to help craft a great campaign for fans. Additionally, Tim Longo has recently departed our team and we are truly thankful for his many contributions to our games, our studio and the Halo universe.

Taking his role will be Chris Lee who currently stands as the studio’s head at 343 Industries. Microsoft then goes on to clarify that the changes being made now will not affect the release of the game anyway for it’s scheduled launch next Holiday season alongside the new Xbox.

Tim Longo prior to his work at 343 Industries derived as a Lead Designer & Director at LucasArts for Star Wars: Republic Commando and Creative Director at Crystal Dynamics for the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot. Longo then joined 343 in 2013 for the same role for Halo 5: Guardians. While how spontaneous the news might be for Infinite’s future on the surface, fans are already vocal to be more ecstatic on Longo’s leave and Lee’s new position as Creative Director. Especially as Longo is foreign to the franchise with his late entry to the developer, the community backing next year’s installment is more confident having Lee being the creative head.

Last month one hardcore fan of the Halo franchise did some detective work and discovered a hidden audio log that was encrypted in the E3 trailer that was shown at Microsoft’s press conference back in June. You can read the full report by going here.

Halo: Infinite will be available for Xbox One and Project Scarlett in Fall 2020.
