
This week, a new report emerged from a reliable Halo insider, Rebs Gaming, stating that Virtuos Studios will be the co-developer of the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Remake. The same developer who did the Elder Scrolls Oblivion remaster.
To be more specific, Rebs Gaming stated that Abstraction, a studio under Virtuos, will be the one co-developing Halo: Combat Evolved Remake in Unreal Engine 5. He claims the game will be running a hybrid engine, which will be similar to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered launch.
Xbox Era confirmed with their sources that they heard similar reports, but noted that Halo Studios is leading the project.
Rebs Gaming also brought up the point that Abstraction created a feature for Halo: The Master Chief Collection from 2021 to 2022. The studio’s website lists Halo Studios as a partner.
If my sources and evidence are correct, Abstraction, who was acquired by Virtuos in December 2024 and created features for Halo MCC from 2021-2022, is developing the Halo CE Remake. The online evidence I found:

Earlier in the week, Halo Studios made a blog post sharing that they’ll be revealing the next Halo project on October 24. It will be revealed at the main stage, with a deep dive panel happening right after.
