While developer Arkane remained a team at Bethesda following leadership like Raphael Colantonio – founder of the team – moved on to new ventures. He later revealed a new studio would be opened with him at the helm – WolfEye Studios. The developer by 2022 shipped Weird West. Rectify Gaming gave the game a score 8.6/10 stating “Weird West feels like the next step in the immersive sim genre.”
“Weird West feels like the next step in the immersive sim genre,” we wrote in our review. “Come for the premise, and stay for the excellent characters, the miserable version of the wild West they have created, and the superbly written story you didn’t know you wanted.” Now in a recent update, WolfEye Studio shares its next project underway and fans of Prey & Dishonored should keep close attention to this.
Recently, Colantonio teased an announcement would be made on the next game. “We’ll reveal a bit more about our next game in a few days… Fans of the previous 1st person games I was involved with (Dishonored and Prey) will be happy. On Thursday, WolfEye Studios shared first glimpse screenshots from the new untitled first-person action RPG.
“We are so happy to be able to officially confirm that our next game is actively in production and that it is a First Person Action RPG,” Colantonio said in a statement. “Fans of the past games I have been involved with such as Dishonored and Prey will feel at home, as well as fans of RPGs in general. While we look for the right publishing partner, our sights are firmly set on getting our community involved with the game’s development with a limited private Alpha in 2025. We can not wait for fans to see what we are working on.”
The press release goes on to direct readers to a new sign-up page available for users to pre-register for the aforementioned private alpha set for next year. At least gathering from the team hosting a closed playtest, it appears the next project could be incorporating some form of online interactivity – a first that has not truly been explored in prior Arkane titles that Colantonio was involved in.
